Because the best weekends leave room to wander.
There are countless ways to experience Washington, DC, but some weekends seem to unfold effortlessly. A quiet morning in Capitol Hill. An afternoon wandering world-class museums. Dinner along the waterfront as the sun sets over the Potomac. Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, here's how we'd spend a memorable weekend in the nation's capital.

Friday Evening
Settle In & Explore the Neighborhood
After checking in, resist the temptation to do too much. Stretch your legs with a leisurely walk through Capitol Hill, one of Washington's most charming residential neighborhoods. Wander tree-lined streets, admire historic rowhomes, and settle into a neighborhood restaurant or cozy wine bar before calling it a night. Sometimes the best way to begin a trip is simply slowing down.
Saturday Morning
Breakfast & Eastern Market
Start your morning at Eastern Market, where Washington comes alive with neighborhood cafés, artisan bakeries, local vendors, and one of the city's oldest public markets. On weekends, browse the beloved farmers market, local artists, and historic flea market before lingering over brunch along 7th Street. It's one of our favorite ways to experience Capitol Hill like a local.
Saturday Afternoon
History, Museums & Monumental Views
Spend the afternoon exploring the National Mall, where history unfolds between the U.S. Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. Step inside a Smithsonian museum that sparks your curiosity, visit the Library of Congress, or simply enjoy wandering at your own pace. Washington, DC rewards curiosity, and some of the most memorable discoveries happen when you allow yourself time to wander.
Saturday Evening
Dinner & The Wharf
As the day winds down, make your way to The Wharf. Waterfront restaurants, live music, evening strolls, and views across the Potomac create one of Washington's favorite gathering places. Whether you're enjoying fresh seafood, craft cocktails, or simply watching the boats drift by, it's the perfect place to end the day.
Sunday Morning
Georgetown at Your Own Pace
Spend your final morning getting wonderfully lost in Georgetown. Browse independent bookstores, discover hidden courtyards, enjoy coffee at a neighborhood café, and wander the historic waterfront before making your way home. Washington's oldest neighborhood has a way of encouraging you to linger just a little longer.
Before You Go
The best weekends are rarely remembered by how much you managed to see. They're remembered by unexpected conversations, meals shared around the table, neighborhoods explored without a plan, and moments that couldn't have been scheduled.
We hope your time in Washington, DC leaves you with stories worth telling and memories that bring you back again.
